Support, Strength and Solidarity: Women Empowering Women in the Death Care Profession

Hundreds of women gathered for a weekend of connection, leadership and compassion during the sold-out National Funeral Director Association Professional Women’s Conference (PWC). Held May 15-18 in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M., women from across the country in the death care profession created a space for to amplify voices, leaders and innovation in the funeral profession.

National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL) was honored to again sponsor the 2025 PWC. The conference includes continuing education credits, networking, unique speakers and wellness-focused teambuilding activities.

The event kicked off on Thursday, May 15 with a welcome reception – the Southwest Social, sponsored by NGL. The evening provided an opportunity to experience Pueblo culture with dancing, artisan vendors and food.

On Friday, May 16, we celebrated this year’s Inspiration Award recipient, Katey Houston from Return Home in Auburn, Wash. Sponsored by NGL, the Inspiration Award honors an exceptional woman who has made significant contributions to the funeral service profession and beyond. Jennifer Kaset, NGL Vice President Sales and Business Development, had the privilege of presenting the award.

“Katey has redefined what it means to serve others with compassion during one of life’s most difficult moments,” Kaset said “Her unwavering support and forward-thinking approach have set a new path in funeral service. This award celebrates her remarkable impact. NGL is proud to honor her and all the extraordinary women who continue to shape the future of our profession.”
