Derek Metcalf promoted to Chief Financial Officer

National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL), a mutual insurance company located in Madison, Wis., has promoted Derek Metcalf, CPA, FLMI to the position of Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Metcalf oversees the financial reporting, general and investment accounting, budgeting, and tax functions for NGL and its subsidiaries.

Metcalf joined NGL in 2005 as Controller and has served in that capacity until recently. He now succeeds NGL’s former Chief Financial Officer who retired at the end of 2018. Prior to NGL Metcalf worked at several insurance organizations in the Milwaukee area in various accounting and leadership positions.

Metcalf holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Marquette University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Metcalf earned the LOMA Top Student Award in 2018 for achieving the highest average in required coursework for the Fellow Life Management Institute (FMLI) program in 2017.
